<p>In the Sangamon County Circuit Court,
Lincoln files the affidavit of Jonathan Miller. Lincoln, William Herndon, and
Stephen T. Logan are defending Miller and his wife Susan in the slander case of
<name type='case' key='L02643'>Beatty et ux. v. Miller et
ux.</name> The plaintiffs William Beatty and Martha Beatty are suing the
Millers regarding some damaging remarks that Susan Miller allegedly made about

v. Hill</name> when court affirms lower court decision. With Herndon, he appears for appellant
in <name type='case'>Short v. Ray</name>; they lose when court finds for
defendant. Lincoln appears for appellants in <name type='case'>Vanhoff and Lewis

<p> Jury fails to agree in <name type='case'>Yocum v.
Newsom</name>. They are discharged and case continued. Lincoln loses <name type='case'>Withrow v. Hill</name> when court finds for complainant. He files
notice of publication in <name type='case'>Hay v. Bryan et al.</name> On
defendant's motion, new trial is granted in <name type='case'>Beerup v.
Lewis</name>, involving ownership of stud horse named Cherokee, judgment to stand as
to other property. Lincoln is for defendant. Lincoln wins <name type='case'>Merriman v. Lake</name>, assumpsit, despite defendant's plea and
affidavit when jury finds for plaintiff and awards $369.34 damages.<bibl default='NO'>Record.</bibl>
