The Illinois House acts to correct the appointment of a surveyor for Schuyler County. The legislature had appointed a new surveyor in spite of the fact that someone currently occupied the position. A newspaper reports that Representative Lincoln wryly "suggest[s]...letting matters remain as they were, so that if the old surveyor should...conclude to die, there would be a new one ready made without troubling the legislature."
