By order of Gen. Atkinson, 1,500 volunteers under Gen. Whiteside march up left bank of Rock River, following trail taken by Black Hawk. Day's march is 26 miles. Gen. Atkinson and regulars follow in keel and mackinaw boats. Col. Zachary Taylor is in immediate command of regulars and unmounted Illinois infantry.
