He writes Solomon Sturges, Chicago banker, that he has not yet determined whether to attend convention, and cannot say whether he can accept his hospitality. Lincoln discusses his presidential chances in letter to James F. Babcock of New Haven, Conn., and lists 11 "confidential friends" working to nominate him.
