Fourth joint debate takes place. Giant processions escort both principals from Mattoon to Charleston. Lincoln is taken to Capitol House, where H. P. H. Bromwell makes reception speech. Lincoln responds. Thousands crowd city, among them several carloads from Indiana. Lincoln opens debate at 2:45. Henry C.
