In the Sangamon County Circuit Court case of Rogers v. Rogers, Lincoln files a bill for divorce for his client, Samuel Rogers. In October 1835, Samuel Rogers married Polly Offill. In June or July 1836, Polly moved out and "has ever since wholly refused to live with [Samuel]," whom Lincoln describes as a "tender and affectionate husband." Samuel asks the court to subpoena Polly to appear at the "final hearing" of the divorce proceedings. Bill for Divorce, filed 14 August 1838, Rogers v.
